BASIC GUIDE FOR DEVOTEES INTEND TO WEAR AYYAPPASWAMY MALA


1. Devotee shall get a Ayyappaswamy portrait (Photo) at home for the daily pooja.

2. Must start their Vegetarian and Brahmacharya (celibacy) Viratham at least 2 days before the Kartigai 1st (Tamil calendar) which is falling on the 17th Nov 2013 (This Year).

3. Avoid keeping any kind of Non-veg food at home after devotees start the Viratham.

4. Kindly get new plate, knife, spoon, cup and other kitchen ware (items) for devotee who starts Viratham for Ayyappasamy.

5. Before starting the Viratham, devotee need to cleanly shave, clip his nails, trim his hair and make himself physically clean.

6. Devotees should also buy minimum 2 sets new pair of black colored Vesti/Thundu.

7. Before wearing the holy mala, devotees shall offer prayers to one’s family deity (Kula Theivam) and get the Blessings from them. (If they have one)

8. Devotees shall get 2 sets (54 bits or 108 bits) of Holy Thulasi Mala with Ayyappa Locket. (Available at our temple sales counter)

9. On the day of Kartigai 1st, devotees shall rise early, bathe and offer Pooja at home and after get blessing from parents or elderly people at home and then, he/they shall receive/wear the 1stThulasi Mala from mother or parents.

10. Devotee can go to Temple and receive the 2nd mala from Gurusamie’s and get his blessing, who will guide them during the Viratham period.
(Malai Annivipu time at our temple starts from 6.30 pm till 9.00pm).

11. Things (Seer Thathu) devotees shall bring when they come to temple on Karthigai 1st:-
- Thulasi Mala with Ayyappa Locket
- Garland for Lord Ayyappaswamy,
- Fruits (Banana, orange, apple… etc.)
- Coconut
- Pooja item’s such as Sudam, Sambrani, Patti, Vibuthi, Sandhanam, Kum-kum, Pannir, samy pattu& etc…
- Guru Thatchanai, minimum of RM1.25

12. Devotees can also get the Pooja/guide book at our temple sales counter.
