Trust the Creator

Aum Namah Shivaya.......

Once upon a time, there was person who did not believe in God. He went so far as to criticize those who did believe. When someone was praying, he would make fun of them. For a long time he clung to the belief that there was no God. One day, he had to go to a neighboring town on business. He packed his belongings and set off on his journey, accompanied by a few of his servants.

In the olden days, there were no cars. If people had to travel long distances they either had to walk or ride on a wooden cart. Along the way, our traveler saw some big pumpkins growing on a vine. He marveled at the size of the pumpkins as he passed them. By noontime the sun was high in the sky and it grew very hot. The man decided to rest for a while before continuing on his journey. Finding a big banyan tree he lay down underneath it. The gentle breeze that was blowing began to blow a little harder. Looking up at the banyan tree the man noticed that it had very small fruits growing on it. He remembered the huge pumpkins that he had seen growing on the delicate vine. Here, he thought, was proof that there was, either no God, or God must be a very stupid one. How else could one explain why huge fruits grew on slender vines while tiny fruits dangled off enormous tree! By this time the breeze was blowing even harder. So strong was it that it caused on fruit to fall from the tree. It fell straight onto the head of our traveler, making him scream in pain. At that moment he heard a voice from the sky.

“My dear son, you cannot tolerate the pain of one tiny banyan fruit falling on your head. Can you imagine how much pain you would be in now if a fruit the size of a pumpkin had fallen on your? Behind the creation of the Divine there is always a purpose.”

Sometimes when people wish for something or other to happen, they are not able to foresee the consequences of their desires. If something is happening in your life it is best for you to accept it, because there is always a reason behind it that you may not be able to understand. However much you try to rationalize, there will always be aspects of any situation that you do not comprehend. By all means, pray. But accept what comes your way. If you get what you wished for, accept it. If you do not get what you wished for, accept it anyway. You cannot understand the purpose behind the creations of the Divine.

God knows when to give and what to give. No creation exits without meaning. You take a small mosquito- it needs just a drop of your blood. It is getting its food everyday. You take the big elephant. It is very powerful it needs lots of food. Yet it need not worry that its size will prevent it from getting the food it needs. Not a single creature is neglected by the Divine.

So what is there for you to worry about? Just surrender to the will of the Divine. Accept and be satisfied with whatever you get. Then you will have peace and happiness. Of course the some people who have severe difficulties, but for most people their problems are self-created because they are worrying about things that they cannot change. When you are satisfied with what you have, you have peace. You have happiness. Have faith in the Divine.

Most of God’s creatures whether mosquitoes or elephants are not praying for their needs, but still they are given everything they need everyday. They are not complaining. They are not worried. Humans are at the highest level of creation, yet they do not know how to accept the divine will always provide what they truly need.

No matter how hard you try to find out why you are facing some problems, you will never be able to fully understand the reason. The only way to find peace is to erase the bad karma with good deeds. Stop worrying about the small things that you cannot change. Have confidence in the Divine. All the living things that enter your home flowers, trees, insects, small animals and birds they are all happy. They are getting the things they need for their day-to-day life. So when the Divine provides goods things for every creation, why do you need to worry? You need more trust and confidence.

SRI blesses you all with peace and happiness.
